WHAT WE DO
At Portico Kids we help parents nurture and instruct the next generation in the faith and love of Jesus Christ. Every Sunday, children are encouraged to worship God and grow in knowledge and trust through singing Gospel songs, hearing Gospel lessons, and witnessing the church body caring for them and for all of God’s family.
CHECK-IN & PICK-UP
Check-in begins at 9:50am in the lobby at the “Portico Kids Desk” and closes at 10:15am.
Kids in the Walkers Class may go directly to their room. Elementary & PreK kids are dismissed in service after the second song. Parents may pick-up their kids after communion. Kids in the Walkers Class may be picked up at the conclusion of service.
SAFETY & SECURITY
All Portico Kids volunteers complete a three step security screening including a background check, safety video, and formal introductions to the Portico Kids Ministry leaders. The security screening is administered through MinistrySafe by Portico Church Arlington.
MOM’S ROOM
A designated room for moms to care for their children during the service. Rocking chairs, bouncers, a changing table, and baby toys are located in the room. A live stream of the worship service is also available on the TV.
NURSERY
(6 wks - Early Walking)
Our nursery is staffed with volunteers during the entire service. A large play mat, toys, bouncers, bumbos, and pack and play are available for volunteers to use as they care for the children. A changing table is available for parents to use as needed.
WALKERS ROOM
(Confident Walkers – 3 years)
The goal of this environment is to orient children to the structure of Portico Kids by nurturing them through play, social interaction, and practical discipleship by the care and love of the volunteers.
PRESCHOOL CLASS
(4–5 years)
The goal of this room is to initiate intentional discipleship through the use of the Gospel Project curriculum, teaching the children to discuss what Bible lessons they are learning, to memorize scripture, and to pray.
ELEMENTARY CLASS
(6–7 years)
The goal of this room is to prepare the children to live as disciples through mastery of the storyline of Scripture by immersing them in a Christ-centered understanding of the Bible, and for them to continue memorizing scripture and learning to pray.
